I guess we need a new thread as we now know that the band missed their own self-imposed deadline (thanks for morgan1098 for pointing me to the source) So we can now focus on other things and get all anxious about whether TFF will actually release something....next year again. And guess what happened right while I was typing...? "Shout" started playing on the radio!

HI there, I am just a guest here, I was thinking as much as I have loved seeing the band 2x in the last 5 years, I know many have not had that chance, I really am looking for some new album news, nuggets and would love for them to play something new that was their own live. I have enjoyed hearing Billie Jean, and Creep in concert- and the covers of both Arcade Fire, Hot Chip recorded-I am sad that there has been such radio silence.

Sorry for my delayed response. I hope you'll actually join the board. Yes, I'm still waiting for a chance to see TFF live. As for playing unreleased new songs, I think they explained in an interview they didn't want to do that unless they were close to completion. However, Roland did do that in the 90s, with songs like Queen of Compromise or Size of Sorrow tried out live. The last I heard was that the album should be out in 2017, but whether that will actually be the case we'll see. There'll probably be the deluxe edition of "Seeds of Love" before and that should be something to 'fill the gap'.

So when is this album expected then? Hiya Rockinon, didn't expect you on here Word is that it'll be out in the first half of this year, but the guys have a long history of missing deadlines. I got told that the "Seeds of Love" box set reissue is pushed back to ~September because of the new album...

I thought TFF meant The FF I'm surprised you expect to see anyone on here given the host turns up once a quarter So what do these guys actually do these days? are they still dedicated to music or do they have a day job? Why don't they do what they say they will do within the timescales they state?

Why don't they do what they say they will do within the timescales they state? Sorry rockinon, but as long as activity is down to a minimum I don't see the point in talking to myself all the time. And I've already posted a lot of threads for people to jump into. Your question is one I also sometimes think about. It really seems they don't need the money. They do still play concerts every year but none in my area. It has taken them a looooong time to return to the UK last year, where it all started! Roland Orzabal has written a novel called "Sex, Drugs & Opera". Curt Smith does his solo work and collaborates with other musicians. He also appears in TV series quite often, as I understand. As for the speed of their releases, I believe there's a quote from the early 80s "We'll never be prolific because we're fussy". The Seeds of Love, as much as I adore it (one of the best albums ever made IMO), must have been a nightmare to make - it took three years, several producers, various studios and session musicians until they had reached something they were happy with. These days the main problem is that Curt is living in LA while Roland is still in Bath and so most of what they're working on happens online. All of that still doesn't explain why they said "we will have finished our album by then" before their UK dates or why there hasn't been another solo album from Roland... maybe the stars aren't aligned properly!! They do seem to have enough time to entertain us fans via twitter twitter.com/curtsmithtwitter.com/rolandtff

"To date, Tears for Fears have sold over 30 million albums worldwide,[13] including more than 8 million in the US."
Yeah, I guess they really don't need the money. Anything that does get released gets released because they feel like it. Personally, I think not having any new songs by Roland since, what, 2006?!, is a massive massive massive waste of talent. The guy is a genius - even most of the b-sides he's written destroy anything that's in the pop charts today.

It seems that 30 million albums figure has been bandied about since the 90s.

I'll wait until the year is over, and then some more Actually, it seems there was a TFF tribute band. www.memoriesfade.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=103&highlight=tribute&sid=f2d64829d43f6f8714b091a56b9e6dd8But I don't think they still exist. Certainly the link is dead.

Hallo, do you know when will Tears For Fears release this new album? Nobody knows anything... they said they want to release something this summer but I'll believe it when I hear it.
