On his 80th birthday, I'd like to point out that there are two lines in his work that seem to have influenced Roland.
"I've never been laid so low" (from "Mother and Child Reunion") -> "Laid So Low (Tears Roll Down)"
and
"Let us be lovers we'll marry our fortunes together" (from "America") -> "Ladybird" ("let us be lovers, we'll melt after midnight")

And of course, Simon & Garfunkel were a duo of two singers who often fought and where one was the "writer" and the other the "pretty boy".
