Thanks to heartphonix for alerting me to this radio interview. Good morning to one half of Tears for Fears - Curt Smith! How are you?
Good morning, Gary, I'm well, or good evening for me. (Laughs) Good evening to you and good morning for us. Where do we find you?
I'm at home in Los Angeles right now. Aaah. And how are you because you hurt yourself, didn't you?
I did, um, yes, we had to cancel a few shows on the end of the tour in England, unfortunately, um, just, I'm fine, I'm recovering. It was a freak accident on the tour bus, ended up with me fracturing four ribs How did that happen?
Well the bus had stopped, or at least I believed it had stopped because it was three o'clock in the morning and I'm getting up to grab my bag. And then because I could see the hotel so I presume we're here, we've stopped... and the bus kind of moved forward quickly, and I fell back and I cracked my back against a table. And cracked four ribs, which was very painful. Wow.
The unfortunate thing about, you know, when you fracture ribs, is, I mean, standing is okay and if I was just playing guitar it would have been okay, but it's impossible to sing because every time you take a deep breath, it's painful. Yeah, yeah. Back to normal now?
Pretty much, yeah, I mean there's just, you know, sort of tendons are tight, and there's a little bit of muscle tightness, but I'm singing fully again, I've been singing at home and getting warmed up for the upcoming things we have to do, including the show in Leeds, and I feel vocally back to normal.
