george123 Thanks for posting and welcome to the forum. Yes, a Number One would have been even better, but this is still a major achievement. It's tied with SFTBC now as their third-best chart showing in the UK. I've also seen it charting at #5 in the Netherlands. In Germany, it went in at #3, another big success: www.offiziellecharts.de/album-details-486761 (Only SFTBC did better here, topping the German charts.)

The UK charts nowadays is based not only in sales but also in downloads and in audio streams. Actually in sales the TFF's album is number 1 in the UK as it shows in the sales charts and the new Central Cee's new album is in the number 2 spot: www.officialcharts.com/charts/albums-sales-chart/Obviously Central Cee's album was more downloaded/streamed than TFF's album therefore it was number 1 all together.

Excellent news! They are Number 1 in the US Billboard sales charts(29.000 copies sold) and number 8 on the Billboard 200 : www.billboard.com/music/chart-beat/tears-for-fears-tipping-point-number-one-debut-top-album-sales-chart-1235040212/The Tipping Point also debuts at No. 1 on Top Alternative Albums, Top Rock Albums and Top Current Album Sales. The Tipping Point is the first top 10 for Tears for Fears on the 30-year-old Top Album Sales chart. It also launches at No. 8 on the Billboard 200, marking the third top 10 for the band on that older list, following The Seeds of Love (No. 8 in 1989) and Songs From the Big Chair (No. 1 for five weeks in 1985).

Very impressive considering they dropped a lot of the obviously commercial stuff

It was a wise move. It’s difficult for a band of their age to have hit singles even if the songs are very commercial. They focussed on putting a great album together that they were proud of and the sales agree with them.
