I'm actually very much looking forward to this, with a feeling that we'll all be greatly surprised. We were surprised 10 years ago, when "Ending" picked up where "Seeds" left off and took it to new grounds. Knowing Roland, I expect he will be keep trying to break barriers and push the music out of the boxes. On the other hand, I'm not sure it will please the old fans, hoping for a conservative approach. We'll see

We'll see There's no denying that Roland is an outstanding songwriter. But I would be quite happy if he tried out new things. To me personally, one of the greatest joys of TFF is that they kept evolving. I don't need a rehash of some older era. They explicitly stated that urge to create new things after SFTBC, instead of doing another album in that style they came up with SOL. I would prefer something more organic along the lines of SOL or RATKOS but I understand it's not the way they work these days.

I really enjoyed the covers EP a couple years back for Record Store Day, so if the new material is that vein I will be very pleased!

Oh man, I haven't checked in here in a while. I was hoping there would be an explosion of information about the new album but... silence. Is it even still happening? I thought the last we heard it was scheduled for July, and it's already almost June and there is no buzz. :/

Perhaps something, anything really, will drop before Curt's birthday on June 24... .

Well, there's a new article in Entertainment Weekly that says "TFF have announced they're working on a new album." It's almost like they've started all over again with a new PR company, which makes me think maybe the album is still a ways off. On the plus side, the tour dates have been rescheduled for the fall. www.ew.com/article/2016/06/16/tears-fears-new-album-2017

Update: According to Super Deluxe Edition, the album is now scheduled for 2017, and it will be on Warner Bros. records! Thank you very much! I know that they have signed with Warners a while ago. But where on SDE did you read that the album is scheduled for 2017? That's quite a tough deal after declaring that "the album will be finished" before the Bestival appearance! Of course they have a history of missing deadlines...

But where on SDE did you read that the album is scheduled for 2017? That's quite a tough deal after declaring that "the album will be finished" before the Bestival appearance! Of course they have a history of missing deadlines... It came in the weekly SDE enewsletter, but I'm kind of surprised it didn't end up on the web site as well. Here's a copy and paste from the email: Tears For Fears' new album expected in 2017 Tears For Fears have announced that they have rescheduled their US tour dates, which they postponed exactly a month ago due to family illness. The shows will now take place in September and October, although the schedule is reduced slightly to 15 dates instead of 18. You can read all the details on the band's website. Roland and Curt have also confirmed that their new album will be released on Warner Bros Records in 2017 and that they are "currently working hard" on it. How this affects the band's ongoing reissue campaign, even I'm not sure. After The Hurting was reissued in 2013 with Songs From The Big Chair following in 2014, it has been slightly disappointing that this initial momentum hasn't been sustained. The good news is that whenever Seeds of Love does finally get reissued, it's going to be a good one and it's no secret that Steven Wilson has completed his 5.1 remix. Have a great week,

I get the newsletter but didn't look into it yet (too busy with other things). Thanks for posting it here anyway, so that those who don't subscribe can read it for themselves as well. Roland and Curt seem to have gone quiet on their twitter feeds. I would have expected some Brexit comments from them!
