Please read these rules and guidelines carefully. They provide the framework for this community and users who repeatedly violate them will be banned. This is a peaceful forum and attempts to sow discord or to initiate stupid bickering will not be accepted. The rules and guidelines in detail:
Please don't join this forum if you don't like the music of Tears for Fears (unless you can offer something – information, videos… – that might be of interest for fans). Somebody who joins the board only to discuss political issues or to poke fun at the band has missed the point of this site, which is intended to connect TFF fans. All other discussions are simply an added bonus, as a music community may also want to talk about other things.
Please do not insult, discriminate, belittle, harass, stalk or threaten ANYBODY (mainly other users, but also their friends & families, musicians or other people who are discussed on the forums). Such behaviour will not be tolerated.
Please do not use offensive or obscene language. Some people swear by nature and not by intent of upsetting other people but since a forum brings together people from all kinds of personal backgrounds, countries etc. we should try to not use it extensively.
Please steer clear of 'contentious' issues like religion, politics or sexuality.
Please don't mistake your opinion with fact.
Please don't be humourless. Discussing on the web has certain pitfalls and sometimes a post that's been intended as harmless may come across as contentious to some, and sometimes we may just go overboard in certain situations. That is just human; however, I advise anybody who's in a bad mood not to post if they feel they might carry that mood over to the discussions. Flame wars are not allowed and will be removed. In order to prevent them, you should also not react too quickly to something you perceive as contentious. Sometimes it might just be a bad joke, and I've seen countless examples of how somebody angrily shot back after a (perhaps dumb, but not hateful in any way) post like that. Try to take things that are being said online with a grain of salt. If that is not possible or the post that infuriates you clearly violates the rules in your opinion, then by all means try to avoid replying but contact the moderating team instead. To do so you can simply click the 'Report' button. But please only use that feature if you feel it’s necessary!
Please don't take the rules in your own hands. Anybody who is not a moderator must refrain from interpreting the rules in order to drive somebody off the forum. Somebody who attempts to remove a poster off the board out of personal reasons (by bullying or by trying to influence the moderators with unjustified complaints) will be removed themselves.
Please don't advertise. It's OK to mention what you are doing or something you like, including links to other sites or videos. However, you shall not join the board in order to advertise, or mention an external site in the majority of your posts. Spam will not be tolerated and deleted immediately. Links to sites or posted images that violate the law in some countries, that propagate hateful ideologies or that may not be suited to underage people (i.e. containing pornography, violence, etc.) are not allowed. If you need to share such links, please do so via PM – or even better, take such matters to different sites or email discussions. ProBoards doesn’t allow adult material and the moderating team has to remove such content, so please spare us the hassle.
Please do not troll (post with the intention of provoking others) or create aliases (register with more than one username). On the other hand, do not call other users "trolls" or "aliases" freehandedly. There is a difference between somebody who is trolling at some moment and a "troll", i.e. somebody who trolls repeatedly.
Regardless of whether it has been covered in the rules above or not, DO NOT VIOLATE THE LAW. That includes using the board to share copyrighted material.
Not a rule, but a guideline in any case: Don't post duplicate threads or messages. There's no need for numerous threads on the same topic or identical messages on different threads.
Spammers will be banned without notice. Genuine members, particularly those who have contributed something to the board, will be alerted when they are in danger of being banned.
If you have been unjustly locked out of your account (i.e. not banned) you can create a new one but I’d prefer it if you posted as a guest in order to alert me or contacted me privately via email or twitter.
