"We did a few songs which were kind of very strange. Our management at the time thought that we wouldn't get a current / modern album, whatever that means, so the process of speed dating with modern successful pop songwriters began. Rightly or wrongly, probably wrongly. So we would go with an open mind to these songwriters studios and 9 times out of 10, they would have pre-programmed a version of "Everybody Wants To Rule The World" or "Head Over Heels". Meanwhile, me and Curt were listening to this incomplete album and we're going 'It's not very good'. We're trying too hard to sound like other people and we don't want to do that. We don't want to try to get a hit single. We wanna make something that moves us. We wanna make something that's gonna be great to play live. So we're now back in the studio. I'm gonna say 4 or 5 tracks of the original album will remain, and they are cracking tunes. But we're now working on 5 new songs which have got so much more heart and sound so much more like Tears For Fears. So fingers crossed, it's going very very well at the moment (although I've said that a million times in the past), and we'll get it done by the end of this year." - Roland

TFF have had so many sounds over their albums. So, I wonder how they define their sound.
I guess I Love You But I’m Lost is the new The Way You Are.

Well, The Way You Are was just an attempt at continuing in the line of The Hurting, and nothing more than a one-off. This seems more severe inasmuch as they had already completed an album, then decided they didn't like it!
But I think all of their albums have at least a foundation in live music. Sure, there's programming and stuff, but real live playing on actual instruments is always there. All their albums have been covered live up to 90%. What I feared about the new record - and what apparently troubled the band too - is that it wouldn't translate well to the stage.

Hi! Yesterday in a Facebook group, a person assures (I do not know exactly how, it is probably a person with internal contacts to the band) that the new album is ready. Although however they do not confirm that it is called "The Tipping Point" and obviously, there is no release date. Anyway ... a little more patience.
SOURCE 1SOURCE 2EDIT: I've noticed that those two posts appear to be visible to those who are members of the group on Facebook. As it seems to me something important, I will attach the content of both posts below:
"Darren Hull The new TFF album is done and ready As of yet no release date announced😀😀😀"
"Danny Cricks Moderador Hello everyone. First. I would like to welcome all of the new members to the group and ask that you look over the group rules and check out the announcement section of the group. Second. The new yet to be titled album is finished. Thank you Darren Hull for sharing the news. NO RELEASE DATE so please be patient. Third. The Online Tears For Fears Store has some new items for the holidays and the only place to buy official merchandise. See the link to the store at the bottom of this announcement. Fourth. The 30th now 31st Anniversary of The Seeds Of Love - box set, Gatefold Vinyl lp, single disc cd and two disc cd is now available from the TFF store and other online stores. The TFF store is the only place to get the Seeds Of Love T-Shirts. Some items have already sold out. Here's To The Band That Made Us Cry. "Famous Last Words" Thank you all for being part of the group. Cheers.....☘"

Curt's most recent hint:
"The business work between finishing & releasing an album can be very tedious..."

I can't help but feel some concern over that phrase. I hope the relationship does not wear out as it happened before with the recording of The Seeds of Love.

It seems they had their rough times (after all "Stay" was about Curt wondering whether he should leave the band again) but it seems they've had a pretty good relationship recently. Have you heard the Rockonteurs podcast with Roland? He said that there was no point in putting something on the album that one of them didn't like. So the new album is going to be different from Seeds of Love, which had a couple of songs that Curt didn't like. Of course the elephant in the room is whatever happens to Roland songs that Curt didn't like. We haven't had a solo album from him in twenty years!

That’s assuming Roland is passionate about the rejected songs. He seems to respect Curt’s judgement these days and didn’t like the ‘speed dating’ way those songs came about himself. That’s not to say us fans would would dislike all or any of them them. Personally, I do agree with Curt on the Seeds of Love songs but I disliked most of the songs by others they both selected for that recent interview.

I think someone posted it on this forum. I found the relevant excerpt on YouTube. Listening to it again, I don’t actively dislike the suggestions as much as I remembered but there were only a couple I would say I really like.
